FARLOW HERBARIUM ARCHIVES
MISCELLANEOUS COLLECTION

Scope and Content:
This collection includes correspondence dealing with Farlow Herbarium business and botany research; photographs, plates, and illustrations of various fungi; manuscripts on fungi topics; a collection of exsiccatae; an unidentified set of notes and sketches; one autograph notebook; and various printed material. Most of this collection relates to the work of the Farlow Herbarium or to botany research involving fungi.

Series Description:
Series 1: Correspondence
This correspondence collection includes mainly letters between Farlow researchers, employees, and others regarding research and Herbarium business. Main correspondents include Atkinson, Blomquist, Ellis, Haynes, Rogers, Schiffner, Schuh, Tilden, and Verdoorn. Most letters are from 1871 to 1951.

Series 2: Photographs, Plates, & Illustrations
This series includes many fungi specimen photographs, plates and diagrams from journal articles, and a set of bound volumes of fungi illustrations.

Series 3: Manuscripts
This series includes 11 manuscripts on topics including lichens, specific plant families, and biographical material on Roland Thaxter.

Series 4: Exsiccatae
This series includes exsiccatae or species lists of various fungi, algae, lichens, and other plant groups.

Series 5: Notes & Sketches, Autograph Notebooks
This small series includes one folder of unidentified notes and sketches and the autograph notebook of J.B. Ellis.

Series 6: Printed Material
This series includes newspaper articles and reprints, the meeting minutes of various botanical groups, one map, and unidentified printed material.
